It’s already that time of the year, the time of one of the most important and memorable festivals to Chinese people, the mid-autumn festival. It is a traditional festival in China, the moon is particularly full and round in this period of time and this symbolizes family reunion and happiness.

Having a history of over 3000 years, the festival is celebrated all across the country and is one of the most important family reunion holidays for many Chinese families. People usually go back home to get together with their families on that day to enjoy each others company, admiring the full moon and eating mooncakes.
They usually consist of rich thick filling made from lotus seed paste or red bean paste and is surrounded by a thin crust and may contain egg yolks. These traditional delicacies are offered between friends or on family gatherings while celebrating the festival

There are some beautiful legends about the mid-autumn festival, so some places will hold activities at several famous locations to follow tradition and create a pleasant atmosphere in all of China. For foreigners, this is one of the best times to visit China as they will acquire a lot of knowledge of the Chinese traditional culture and traditional history. The rich history resulting from thousands of years of culture knows many tales, myths and legends and it is during this time, that many elders will be retelling these stories as children and young adults sit still and listen.

Chinese festivals encapsulate Chinese culture. As society is developing fast, pressure is building up and most people are too concerned with their work, they gradually start to forget where they came from. However, whenever the festival sets in, people will look up at the full silver moon, drink wine to celebrate life and reminisce about the past or think of their relatives and friends far from home, and extending all of their best wishes to them.
