The spring festival

Chinese is a country with long history and a lot of traditional festivals. Many foreigners are interested in Chinese festivals, so I will introduce some traditional festivals to you so that you can learn more about China!

The most important festival in China is the spring festival, just like the Christmas in western countries, every Chinese person love this festival as families get together and enjoy time together. It is the last day of lunar calendar in Chinese, and people celebrate the festival in several ways- making delicious food, setting off firecrackers, eating together.  Children can ask for pocket money from adults. On the first day of the new year, we visit relatives and give our best wishes to each other.

People do not go to bed on the eve of spring festival, all the families watch TV together or talk. People usually eat dumplings the next day, so the night before, all the family members  make dumplings together. The spring festival lasts for nearly a month. In the past, when people in China were not very rich, everyone loved the festival because every family would make delicious food which they could not normally afford; although we lead a better life now, the Spring Festival holds an important place in everyone’s heart!
