Dalian - The Hong Kong of the north

Dalian is a major city and seaport of Northeast China. It is the second largest city in Liaoning province of China. The city also serves as an important financial base.

Dalian is rapidly becoming to be known as the Hong Kong of the north. Dalian, situated at the tip of China's Liaodong Peninsula, is also known for its distinct Russian colonial architecture and breathtaking skyscrapers. It is also regarded by many as one of Chinas cleanest cities. Dalian boasts an abundance of local places to visit whilst providing an excellent opportunity to learn Chinese in its purist forms. The city is a promising choice for a place where you can spend an exciting week or two or even partake in a year of study to learn to speak and write Chinese.

Dalian's stunning parks and green hills, wide thoroughfares and army of street cleaners makes it a pleasant city to visit and live in than most Chinese cities of comparable size.

Though most of the tourist industry in the city is targeted at the domestic, rather than international market, overseas tourists still find plenty to do in the city. The large number of foreign businesses and the numerous foreign students and teachers at the city's many universities ensure that there are plenty of businesses (from upmarket hotels to bars and coffee houses) that cater to the overseas market.
