Fudan University - Overview


Fudan University, founded in 1905, is one of the oldest universities in China. The University is a member of the China C9 league, which is a consortium of China's top 9 universities. The University was ranked third best in China in 2009 behind Peking and Tsinghua universities.


Fudan University comprises of four campuses; Handan, Fenglin, Zhangjiang, and Jiangwan offering courses across 22 disciplines and 134 sub-disciplines.  The university has more than 45,000 students on rolls in a single academic year. The university also has a highly experienced and qualified team of 2400 teachers and researchers. Fudan is ranked second in China in terms of number of international student enrolled on its programs.

The University has a special bachelor of arts course for international students called Chinese Language for International Students, and so far there have been 7 batches of graduates from that course. The university also has courses on Chinese history, culture, literature, economy, philosophy and Chinese law.

Shanghai Fudan University - Course Description:

  • Course curriculum; Intensive Reading, Spoken Chinese, Pronunciation, Listening Comprehension
  • Tuition includes books and cultural trips with your classmates
  • Professors are experienced in teaching Chinese as a second language to foreigners
  • All programs include 20 hours in the classroom per week
  • Electives are based on the proficiency level of the student: Chinese History, Business Chinese, Introduction to Chinese Characters, Mandarin Proficiency, Chinese Film, Chinese Calligraphy and Painting, Chinese Songs, HSK lessons, Taiji, Chinese Martial Arts, (all electives are dependent on Mandarin proficiency level and program selected).

Standard and Intensive Program


Standard program includes 20 academic hours a week. While the intensive course offers 30 hours. Intensive program is suitable for students seeking for fast improvement and achieving fluency in Chinese in a short term. Standard program is for those who prefer slower pace of studying and like to combine learning with leisure.
