Jiaotong University - Overview


Conveniently located in the metropolitan Shanghai, Shanghai Jiaotong University (SJTU) is one of the oldest and most influential universities in China. The university is operating on a well-developed infrastructural base of more than 200 hectares. Originally called Nan Yang Public School in 1896; by 1930 it had become known as the "Eastern MIT". The campus has more than 4,000 overseas students and is rich in culture, history and arts providing ample opportunities to experiencing a plethora of quality education and experience.


Notable past attendees of SJTU include Jiang Zemin (former President of China), Luc Montagnier (a Nobel Prize Laureate for the discovery of HIV) and Ding Junhui (China's top snooker player).

Shanghai Jiaotong University - Course Description:

  • Course curriculum; Intensive Reading, Spoken Chinese, Pronunciation, Listening Comprehension
  • Tuition includes books and cultural trips with your classmates
  • Professors are experienced in teaching foreigners as a second language to foreigners
  • All programs include 20 hours in the classroom per week
  • Electives are based on the proficiency level of the student: Chinese History, Business Chinese, Introduction to Chinese Characters, Mandarin Proficiency, Chinese Film, Chinese Calligraphy and Painting, Chinese Songs, HSK lessons, Taiji, Chinese Martial Arts, (all electives are dependent on Mandarin proficiency level and program selected).
